Del Norte
Getting Around
Del Norte lies on U.S. Highway 160, the east-west spine of the San Luis Valley, two blocks north of U.S. 285 (north-south). The historic downtown core is six blocks long and level, easy to explore on foot or by cruiser bike. There is no municipal transit; locals rely on cars or regional shuttles.
Public Transportation
While Del Norte is a relatively small town, it does have some local transportation options, including Rio Grande County Public Transportation, which provides services within the county. The regional Bustang Outrider service runs through the San Luis Valley with stops in nearby Alamosa (east) and Moffat (north). The closest commercial airport is Alamosa (ALS).
Walkability & Bike Friendliness
Historic core (Grand Ave.) is walkable for dining/lodging. For recreation, the Riverwalk is ADA-accessible and Lookout Mountain offers signed loops for hikers/bikers.
