Winter Park

Arrival by car follows the main east west interstate to the foothills and then the state highway over the pass into town. The approach climbs through switchbacks to the divide, then descends into the Fraser Valley with wide shoulders and frequent turnouts.

In winter storms the pass can close while crews clear snow and mitigate slides, which can extend travel times.

Within town the state highway acts as the main street with signed lanes, crosswalks, and signals. Side roads serve neighborhoods and connect to trailheads and the resort base. Parking for shops and dining clusters around the downtown plaza and in the village garages, with additional lots near event spaces and along signed side streets.

The road grid is straightforward, though peak arrival and departure windows can bring slow going near the resort and at the town core.

The local bus network known as The Lift runs free year round between the resort base, downtown, Fraser, and Granby with day and evening service in winter and expanded routes during peak periods. Stops are signed and many shelters include real time tracking via the rider app.

Local paratransit is available by request. Intercity rail serves the valley at the platform in Fraser, and the seasonal ski train adds direct weekend service from the city to the slopes. Regional shuttle companies link the international airport to lodging in town and at the base area.

Downtown blocks are short and pedestrian friendly with frequent crosswalks and sidewalks that lead to the Rendezvous Event Center and the information center.

The Fraser River Trail offers a paved and gravel corridor for walking and biking that links the resort village, the town core, and Fraser with gentle grades and scenic bridges. In summer, bike lanes and multi use paths connect residential streets to parks and trailheads, while lift served mountain bike terrain begins at the base area.

Winter grooming on valley paths and connector routes makes Nordic travel practical between neighborhoods and the resort.
