Overview
Telluride, nestled deep in a box canyon and surrounded by the rugged San Juan Mountains, was founded in the late 1800s as a silver and gold mining camp. Today, it is renowned for its ski resort, scenic gondola, historic downtown, and vibrant festival scene, hosting events such as the Telluride Film Festival and Bluegrass Festival. The area’s geography features alpine meadows, waterfalls, and dense forests, while wildlife includes elk, black bears, and marmots.
