Seasonal Access & Weather
Seasonal Access
Roads and trails remain open through the year, with nightly gate closures that follow posted seasonal hours. A free shuttle links the overflow lot, the visitor center, and the Central Garden during peak season.
On winter days, snow and ice can temporarily affect interior drives and walkways, and some seasonal restrooms close for winterization. Construction work is occasionally scheduled and can create short detours or intermittent lane restrictions.
Weather Considerations
Warm afternoons and sudden storms are common in summer, while freeze thaw cycles create slick pavement in colder months. Fire danger can rise during dry and windy periods, and open burning inside the city is not allowed. Visitors should check local restrictions and avoid any flame-based devices that could spark ignitions.
