Garden of the Gods
Overview
Sandstone walls rise in thin blades shaped by uplift and erosion, creating a landmark of rock corridors, juniper pockets, and open grassland. Long before modern trails, Native peoples visited these formations and told stories tied to this landscape.
A local family later ensured public access by gifting the heart of the site to the city, and the park eventually earned national recognition for its natural features.
Today the visitor center shares exhibits on geology, wildlife, and a locally discovered dinosaur, while paved paths lead among signature formations where swifts and falcons ride the thermals above the fins.
