Seasonal Closures
Seasonal Closures
Open year-round, conditions change fast. Colorado National Monument welcomes visitors in every season, but short-notice closures or delays can occur for safety and maintenance. Before you go, scan the park’s Alerts & Conditions; on-the-ground signs and gate staff will have the latest details day-of.
Wildlife Closures
Seasonal protections can affect climbing routes and adjacent approach areas when sensitive birds nest on cliff faces or when desert bighorn sheep use certain ledges. These closures are targeted and signed on site and may lift early or extend based on observations. Off-trail travel restrictions can also appear in specific locations to reduce disturbance during sensitive periods. Visitors should follow posted notices, respect barrier lines, and consult current alerts for location-specific timing and status.
