Regulations & Considerations
Park Rules
- Stay on designated trails and obey posted signs.
- Pets must be leashed at all times and are not permitted on most inner canyon routes.
- Camping is only allowed in designated campgrounds or backcountry areas with a permit.
- Climbing, fishing, and boating activities may require special permits.
- Drones are prohibited within park boundaries.
Wildlife Cautions
- Black bears are present in the park. Always store food and scented items in bear-proof containers or vehicles. Never feed wildlife.
- Mountain lions roam the canyon area. Stay alert, travel in groups when possible, and keep children close.
- Rattlesnakes may be encountered along trails and rocky areas; watch where you step.
- Do not approach or attempt to feed any wild animals. Maintain safe distances to avoid conflicts.
Fire Restrictions
- Fires are only permitted in designated fire rings or grills within developed campgrounds.
- Collecting firewood within the park is prohibited. Bring your own or purchase locally.
- During periods of high fire danger, additional fire bans may be in place. Always check current restrictions before your visit.
- Smoking is restricted to vehicles, designated areas, or developed campgrounds.
