Park Entrances
South Rim Entrance
The primary and most developed entrance, located near Montrose. It provides paved road access, the main Visitor Center, numerous scenic overlooks along the South Rim Drive, and short hiking trails. This is the most frequently used entry point and remains open year-round, though some facilities may close seasonally.
North Rim Entrance
A quieter, more remote access point reached via unpaved roads from near Crawford. Ideal for solitude, rugged landscapes, and panoramic views. This entrance has fewer facilities and is typically closed during winter months due to snow.
East Portal Entrance
A steep and winding road descends to the Gunnison River at the bottom of the canyon, providing access near Crystal Dam. This entrance is popular with anglers and those wanting river-level views of the canyon. The road is extremely steep (16% grade) and seasonally closed in winter.
